Faculty Accomplishments
Hazel M. Bluestein, M.D., is the Family Practice Program
Director. She has been a faculty member of the Montgomery
Family Practice Residency Program (MFPRP) for 21 years, and
previously served as associate director since 1993. She completed
her undergraduate work at Franklin and Marshall College and
attended medical school at the Medical College of Pennsylvania.
Upon graduation from the MFPRP, she completed a Fellowship
in Faculty Development at Temple University School of Medicine,
where she is a Clinical Associate Professor of Family Practice
and Community Medicine.
As director of the Montgomery Family Practice Center, Dr.
Bluestein has responsibility for practice management. Special
areas of interest include women's health and office surgery.
Dr. Bluestein has been recertified by the American Board of
Family Practice and is a Fellow of the American Academy of
Family Physicians. She is the Vice-Chairman of the Board of
Directors of Fornance Physicians, the hospital's 75-physician
multi-specialty practice. Dr. Bluestein is also Chairman of
the Department of Family Practice at Montgomery. Her avocations
include horticulture and Ikebana.
David S. Fox, M.D., Faculty Associate of the MFPRP,
has been a full-time member since 1995. He completed his undergraduate
training at the University of Connecticut, graduate training
at Thomas Jefferson Medical College, and residency at MFPRP.
In September 1997, Dr. Fox completed a Fellowship in Faculty
Development at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North
Carolina. Dr. Fox is the Director of the Outpatient Education
Committee and Nursing Home Committee. He also sits on Montgomery
Hospital Medical Center's Management Information Systems and
Pharmacotherapy Committees. He is a Clinical Associate Professor
of Family Practice and Community Medicine at Temple University
School of Medicine. Dr. Fox has special interests in medical
computer applications, office procedures, and patient education.
Donald E. Kraybill, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist,
is a part-time member of the residency faculty and spends
four sessions per week at the Montgomery Family Practice Center.
Dr. Kraybill is responsible for teaching/consulting with the
residents in the outpatient setting. He facilitates Balint
Seminars in physician/patient interaction. Dr. Kraybill is
also involved with the Behavioral Science Curriculum and the
Research Committee. Dr. Kraybill has a private practice in
which he provides psychotherapeutic intervention with children,
adults, and families. His specialty interest is in the assessment
and treatment of Attention Deficit Disorders. He also serves
as a site reviewer for residency programs for ACGME.
Thomas C. McGinley, Jr., M.D., joined as Faculty Associate
of the MFPRP in 1995. He completed his undergraduate training
at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa., his medical school
training at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine
in Hershey, Pa., and his residency training at Abington Memorial
Hospital.
In March 1997, Dr. McGinley completed a Fellowship in Faculty
Development at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North
Carolina. He has special interests in adolescent medicine,
office procedures, pediatric medicine, and family counseling.
He coordinates the Medical Student Education Committee, the
Residency Recruitment Committee, the Research Committee and
Journal Club. He also sits on Montgomery Hospital Medical
Center's Ethics and Library Committees. He is the recipient
of the 1997 Blockley-Osler Award, from Temple University School
of Medicine, recognizing excellence in clinical teaching to
medical students. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor
of Family Practice and Community Medicine at Temple University
School of Medicine.
William H. Rodgers, III, M.D., is a part-time faculty
member of the MFPRP, having served as the full-time director
from 1978 to June 30, 1998. Dr. Rodgers performed his undergraduate
work at the University of Notre Dame, attended medical school
at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, and
completed an internship at Albert Einstein Medical Center
in Philadelphia. He was in solo Family Practice for 16 years
prior to bringing his practice to Montgomery Hospital Medical
Center to establish the Residency Program. In 1984, Dr. Rodgers
received the Preceptor of the Year Award by Temple University
School of Medicine's Department of Family Practice Center.
Dr. Rodgers has been recertified by the American Board of
Family Practice, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of
Family Physicians. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of
Family Practice and Community Medicine at Temple University
School of Medicine.
Robert S. Warren, M.D., received a BA in the Biological
Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990,
and in 1996 received a Medical Doctorate from Temple University
School of Medicine. Dr. Warren is Board Certified in Family
Medicine and completed his Family Practice Residency here
at Montgomery Hospital in 1999. Subsequently, he completed
a Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Temple University Hospital,
and has received a Certificate of Added Qualifications in
Geriatrics.
Susanna G. Evans, M.D., is a Family Practice/Obstetrics
faculty member. She attended college at Elizabethtown College
in Pennsylvania and medical school at Pennsylvania State,
in Hershey, Pa. Dr. Evans completed her residency training
at Shasta-Cascade Family Practice Residency Program at the
University of California, Davis. Following her residency she
did a Fellowship in Obstetrics and rural family medicine in
Tacoma, Washington. After completing her fellowship she worked
full-time at a community health center in Tacoma Washington
where she provided a full spectrum of family practice services.
Gina L. Rose, M.D., is our newest faculty member.
Dr. Rose graduated from the Montgomery Family Practice Residency
Program in June 2001. She is the first new Fellow at Montgomery
Hospital who graduated from our practice. Dr. Rose graduated
from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia
in May 1998.
Her academic honors include, the Dr. Joseph Nathan Grossman
Prize in Family Medicine, Judy Shockman Memorial Fellowship
in Lupus Research, Alumni Junior and Senior Scholarships.
She has also received honors in 15 medical school classes
and rotations. Dr. Rose has special interests in women's health
and outpatient education.
Crystal Franklin CNM, MSN, joined the Montgomery Family
Practice Center to work with the Ob/Gyn Center. She sees patients
and is a resident preceptor. She also is involved with developing
childbirth education classes and teaching materials. She is
in private practice with the first midwifery practice in the
area.
Dr. Franklin received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and a Masters
of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania
where she also received her midwifery certification. She is
a recipient of the Spranns Grant award from the University
of Pennsylvania, which recognizes her commitment to developing
and providing Maternal Child Health programs for the underserved.
Joan M. Grzybowski, D.O., serves as a part-time outpatient
preceptor at the Montgomery Family Practice Center since 1997.
She is a full-time family physician at Norriton Family Medicine.
Her undergraduate training was completed at King's College
in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Dr. Grzybowski has an Associate's
Degree in Clinical Health Science from Penn State University
College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. She attended
medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic
Medicine. She is the first woman recipient of the Fred. J.
Solomon, D.O. award in 1994 for clinical education. Her special
interests include preventive medicine, office procedures,
and patient education.
Nilesh Patel, M.D., serves as a part-time outpatient
preceptor at the Montgomery Family Practice Center. He has
a private practice in nearby Audubon, Pa. He attended medical
school at the University of Glasgow Medical School in Scotland
and completed his Family Practice Residency at Chestnut Hill
Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. Prior to his Family Practice
training, he completed a surgical residency in London and
is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (England). Dr.
Patel became certified by the American Board of Family Practice
in July 1994.
